Truck was purchased new by the Fort Worth ISD from Century Chevrolet in Fort Worth Tx and used as a work truck for about 10 years. My uncle used this truck working for the FWISD and purchased it at auction in about 1987. My grandfather drove this truck for about 8 years. I am the third generation to own this truck.

I purchased the truck as a partially finished project. I wanted a good driver/cruiser. The 5.3L and 4L60E were already installed, The paint was acceptable as was the interior. I replaced both the front and rear suspension. Adjustable coil over shocks and a 4 link set up from CPP and TCI. Installed a new cooling system using a Griffin radiator build for an 81-87 C-10 with an LS. The steering gear from the steering wheel out the wheels was replaced. I kept the 20"US Mags, but replaced the tires with Goodyear Eagles. All of the exterior lighting was upgraded to LED. I had to have a tonneau cover made as no one made them anymore.
So far it has been a fun cruiser!

Red Truck
Red truck is a work truck not a show truck. After selling my 280Z I really wanted a truck for doing truck things and to have a project on the weekends. It has been a great platform for learning and having fun. My son has really grown attached to the truck and I try to teach him all the things I had to learn on my own. This truck is nowhere near perfect, but it does the job and is always great for a donut run on the weekends.

Bought this truck new in April 1986. In 1990 the lowly 2.8 threw a rod and we dropped in a SBC 350 4 bolt main out of a 77 Monte Carlo.
We finished the engine swap in the spring of 1991 so it got road tested during the summer months in MN. The first real test of the new powerplant came on Halloween 1991. I lived in the Twin Cities and on that day we received the largest snowfall ever over a 24 hour period - 28". It started falling about the same time all the trick or treaters were hitting the street. The next morning, with over 20" of snow already on the ground I drove 12 miles to work only to find I and two other guys were the only ones there. We sent ourselves home but boy did I have fun in the snow with that extra HP. Thanksgiving was a different story. We received another 15" of snow and as I tried to tow my wife's car off the street I blew a hole in my transfer case with all the extra torque.
After driving it for a couple of years with the original suspension and gold paint I decided it was time to drop in the lift. So, in the spring of 1994 I had the body work done and painted to truck to its current color - medium red garnet. From there we installed the 4" Trailmaster lift kit. The rear end was quick and easy and only took a few hours but the front end was a completely different story. With all the rusted bolts (did I say I still lived in MN at the time) and modifications (relocated shock and control arm mounts) it took two full weekends to finish it up.
It's hard to believe I've had the truck for 35 years now and it's been 27 since we did the work. Still looks great and always receive compliments on it but she's showing her age. Fix this, fix that, kind of like playing whack a mole now, The 5 speed needs a rebuild and the suspension bushings need to be replaced along with a cracked control arm but I guess this is why we own these things.
Drive 'em!

This is, sadly, a place holder for a project on a '66 GMC Suburban Custom 100 Clamshell that I'm committed to bring to life (white w/ bronze interior) as an homage to my late Dad, who passed away this year at 89 1/2 years of age (not due to Covid-19, thankfully). The '66 was a family truck and at the age of 16 he let me buy it from him - my first vehicle. We rebuilt the 305 V6 in 1978 and I raised it, added Cepek steel 6 spoke rims and rubber, KC Lights, surfer fabric curtains and drove the heck out of it before selling it while in college. I've always regretted that and have had a GM Suburban or Yukon in my garage from 1985 since.
The AT4 was scooped up before the chip shortage and has the Brembo and Cold Air already on board. It is waiting for a Callaway supercharger and exhaust kit and hopefully will be a good stable mate once the '66 is done.
