The Joker
The truck has been in my family since the mid 70's and was my dad's daily driver. My parents gave it to me round about 1994 and I used it as my daily for years. Over the years I've slowly upgraded with power disc brakes all round, power steering, automatic trans, new wiring harness and a 383 stroker. Much of the work has been done by or with the help of many club members for which I am extremely grateful. Special thanks to John Fawley, Dale Schosek, Chris Dillon and Nathan Valentine.
Much gratitude to my wife for her encouragement to keep improving the truck and for helping me work out the current color combo which I love but was very nervous about how it would look. When I got to see it roll out of the shop, I couldn't stop grinning. Paint and body work by Jimmy Marcum and his sons.

I purchased this beauty in November, 1976. At the time, it had a trick blue/white paint job with matching seats. It has been several colors since then, and is currently in the paint shop and will come home a beautiful blue pearl. Bored and stroked 396, now 434 C.I. She has a 12 bolt rear, TH400 tranny and various other goodies. This truck has been my pride and joy for many years, and I can't wait to see her in her new blue dress!

the '70
my first vehicle was a 1968 GMC 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive. i have always liked that body style. so while on craig's list one day i found the '70. Noelle took a look and said "you can make that new again".......... it has been nearly as big of a project as the '55 was. the thing is, it ran & drove when we purchased it. upon further investigation i found that the supposed rebuilt 307 was a JUNK YARD 350. SO OUT IT CAME! with some club member help, the brand new 350 chevy crate was in with a different cam, roller lifters, weiand stealth intake & edelbrock carb.. awhile later the granny gear 4 speed came out and was replaced with a 1994 NV4500 (5 speed) that was rebuilt along with the transfer case (np205). new springs & shocks. disc brake front axle assy. out of a 1991 suburban (i changed gears & added a locker). replaced the fuel tank with a plastic tank and mounted it under the bed. as of May 2022 the body work is coming to an end paint should be flying soon! new tilt column, gauge cluster, seat, stereo system, wiring & A/C to follow.......

This has been in our family since my wife drove the truck in high school. I bought it from her brother in the 1980's and drove the truck from Tucson, Az to DFW when I took a job with EDS in 1985. In 2019 I had the truck refurbished by Robinson Restoration and Service, LLC. They did a remarkable job in getting it running. A bit expensive, but worth every penny. Everything was replaced from brakes to brake lines. The transmission is the only remaining during the restoration. It starts and runs great every time I drive it to keep it in running great. The next step is a street paid job which we are trying to get done this year. I will add pictures when painting is done.

So in the end of 2018 we bought this truck out of the deserts of Arizona. She was an old hunting truck on a ranch out there. Had the truck shipped home. Once the truck was home I redid the suspension, engine, electrical wiring, brakes, wheel seals, and tires and rims. We built a lift at home so we could remove the top easily. This last winter I removed all the interior and replaced all the body mounts. Had the inside sprayed it with LineX. Installed new sound deadening and carpet. We sent the seats to extreme upholstery in Denton and had the seats powder coated new foam and new vinyl installed. While the seats were at the shop I installed power windows and a new stereo system. This summer going to and a vintage air set up to truck. The family and myself enjoy taking the truck for ice cream runs and to local car shows.

Pulled from a field where it sat atleast a decade. Had lots of rust but have replaced what panels could and repaired those I couldn't. In the process I have learned to weld. Pretty slow at it but I can do it. Will never be any kind of a show truck I just want it to be a nice looking driver that I can actually use.

I have known the pickup since new. Bought by a local lawyer in 72 he traded it for a Beau James in 1974 and my dad bought the '72, I bought it from him in '76 and sold it in '81. Found it and bought it back in 1987. It is apart and being worked on now. The pickup spent 1981-1987 in Denver and the rockers and cab corners suffered. That stage of the rebuild was been the slowest. Things are picking up speed now and is nearing completion.

Rusty
I found Rusty on the way home from a Poker game ,I had seen him in my neighborhood and one day noticed, that he had a for sale sign on him. I took him for a short test drive and when the owner asked just $500.00,I knew I couldn't pass a great deal like that up, so I bought him on the spot. I'm not lucky at cards, but feel I came home with a winner that day.
UPDATE: Old Air system, Dakota Digital Gauges, Dash Pad , Redid the bed wood
