Smurfette

When I moved up to washington state I was projectless due to certain stupidity in towing smurf. Had to leave him on oklahoma for awhile...... I was desperate for something to work on in my off time from work... I went to check out a suburban I had seen for sale on craigslist.... Went to check it out she was dirty covered in mud and dirt.... wiped the mud off and what came through to my eyes but another smurf blue pain job with some pink pin striping lol..... bought then n there and now I have 2 lol

The Mistress

My truck is an emotional connection to my dad. I grew up with a 1966 C10 being my first vehicle that I learned to work on and take responsibility with. The truck was for me and my brothers to use while in high school and then went back to my dad after we graduated. My father passed away in 2015 and my oldest son was 13 years old. I wanted to have the same experience with him that I did with my dad. Unfortunately, my son did not have the same idea and had no interest in getting his hands dirty. So, I get “The Mistress” and the appropriate love hate relationship.

Scout

Scout was purchased in February of 2018. I drove him around for about a year with the motor he came with and the three on the tree. After attending the Paris Car Show, I recognized he was enjoying about a quart of oil for every 100 miles. After a lot of discussion with John Fawley, Dale Schosek, Mick Dixon, Tom Doty and a number of other members, I decided that I would prefer to install a new crate motor, convert to automatic trans, install A/C, and some decent tunes. In April of 2019, the motor and trans arrived at the shop and with the help of a number of club members including John Fawley, Dale Schosek, Jim Barr, Mick Dixon, and Chris Dillon we finally got Scout finished in July of 2020. He drives like a dream and I cannot get enough of Scout my faithful steed! Of course with any remodel we discovered some other housekeeping items that needed attention. So Scout not only receive a new motor and trans, he also received a new steering column, body mounts, new brake system, relocated/new fuel tank, new steering box, new interior and a bunch more!

Old Blue Turtle II

Bought it in July of '18. All because my wife talked me into stopping and taking a look at it, at a produce stand in Edgewood, TX. Nicknamed it "The Old Blue Turtle II" in honor of my father who had an old blue truck that he always drove very ssslllooowwwlllyyy! We got him a CB radio so that he could find out where the highway patrol was, so that he could speed up, in order to NOT get a ticket for impeding traffic!
I've replaced the motor and about to replace the 400 trans with a 700r4. I've redone the bed and rebuilt the front suspension. Replaced the gauges and put a new wiring harness in. I also had Larry Preston, at Preston's Auto Upholstery re-do the interior.
UPDATE: 06/21....Installed power front disc brakes and lowered the front end 2-1/2" more. Vintage Air system is on order. 700r4 transmission is next!

Pinky

I bought the truck from a gentleman, last name Pharr in Paris, TX. around 15 years ago. Originally built as a drag racing truck. He removed the big block and glide, installed a 355 cu. in. motor with a turbo 350 and put it up for sale. Over the years I've redone/refurbished/replaced everything but the paint. First things first, ladder bars with coil-overs are great for a drag truck but are awful for a comfortable riding street/cruising truck. I changed the coil-overs to sleeve air bags. That change helped some in the ride department. The original 355 was probably built from left over race car parts (he had a stable of race cars at his home shop).
The cam was way wild and pulled great from 4000 rpm up, but, no vacuum for brakes or power for cruising. Refurbished the engine with new heads, cam & kit, dual plane intake manifold (V's single plane) and now it's much more cruise friendly. Added Vintage Air Conditioning system. The latest upgrade/modification was changing the 9" Ford rear ladder bar/sleeve air bag suspension to a parallel 4 bar/sleeve bag set up with rear disc brakes. The ride is now totally sweet. Two thumbs up on the ride from the wife! I now need to get busy on the 1954 Suburban I bought from Mick about 7 years ago!

I bought this truck about 6 months ago for my first restore. It needs updates to every system, my plan it to work on it slowly and enjoy the process.
